Default Happy SPRING!!

Finally, SPRING is making an appearance. The buds on the swamp maples are nearly as big as a squirrel's ear, the crocus are croaking, the peepers are peeping....and it was 80 degrees yesterday!

Like to take this moment to wish all of you a HAPPY SPRING and a HAPPY EASTER

The robins have visited us, the wild turkeys are trotting across the yard. Only a couple of hens and a young Tom, but still a sign of spring. Today a fox was frisking in the back yard, later saw him pouncing on one of our brush piles. He must have had some prey under there.

We purposely leave stacks of brush around the perimeter to afford the little creatures some safe haven. Not worried the woods are filled with prey for him...our yard is a sanctuary NOT a buffet. We are already missing our resident Bunny. With the coyotes and fox we don't have to worry about varmints.

Crocus are croaking, Jonquils are jonking, forsythia is in full golden bloom...Just love this time of year.

We are officially out of our two year drought. Thank goodness! We've lost some of our shrubs and trees due to water restrictions and the fact that we could not stand out in the awful heat to hand water the trees in the time allowed.

The trees in the forest are in full bud and look beautiful against the clear blue sky. All's well in our world.

So, what's happening out your way?

Saturday was cold & drizzle, but yesterday was just fine @ almost 70. The buds are just now starting on some of the trees around my house, some not yet. North side of hill and all that... generally in the area the trees are budding out and I see new stuff coming up @ my moms. Today is supposed to be nice, 66 already at 10:30.

Got a lot of yard work ahead of me...

About yard work....find out what a crew of young workers will cost and point and pay. It works for me. For more years than I can count we worked in the sweltering heat, digging, planting, cleaning up, trimming, mowing. Now we really can't keep up with all of it. It's not that expensive and our crew does a very good job (yes, there have been a few glitches...but nothing major)

No more heat prostration, frozen feet and hands from snow blowing...let the young hearty ones do that, you can supervise from the deck with a cold one in hand in the warm weather, and from in front of the fireplace in the winter.

Sounds like a damn good idea to me. I'm not far from retirement and I think I may take that advise
